Ok, this – ofcourse – should have been home made icecream but, I have to disappoint you, it is not. I don’t have an icemachine (yet) and the purpose of this exercise was really to take a photo of icecream…It was one of those things that I had on my to do list and I was feeling slightly bored today and figured what better thing to do?
I’d been having a cold all week and it was finally getting a bit better today, so I headed out to the store and bought Ben & Jerry’s strawberry cream icecream and another brand’s vanilla icecream. I went to the studio since I also wanted to do the slw remake that I had been planning for the entire week, so I was there anyway. Bought some fresh fruit to top it all of and voila…
For some reason the first batch of ice-cream that I tried didn’t really melt, which – ofcourse – was a bonus. I thought it was quite warm in the studio, but it stayed fairly well for at least 10 minutes. I could even put them from one bowl into the ice-cones you see on the left. It’s probably the type of ice-cream; I’m not sure, but it made it all a bit easier to handle.
I thought the hardest part was to have a nice scoop of ice. I didn’t have a very good scoop; well, it works perfectly if you want to actually eat the icecream but not so good if you want the icecream to look pretty. I wanted nice round balls, but I failed in that. O well, I still have some left, so I will see if I can find a better scoop and retry. I did have great fun and no, I did not eat all the icecream… (just a tiny bit).
The second batch was the Ben & Jerry’s ice which was very disappointing in color! I had hoped for lovely creamy color with streaks of bright red strawberry in between but instead I get this beige looking icecream. That was a bummer… I guess I either have to make my own or buy another brand, but it’s hard to tell since they are all packaged in boxes where you cannot see through.
What I will attempt to make is a semifreddo soon, as that doesn’t require any churning, so that should be doable in my freezer and without machine. In the meantime I thought these looked kind of nice..
And for the next time I have to find something nice to hold icecones, as holding them in my hand is definitely not the best way to do this.
