When Wendy Heyer from the blog Foodie Moods suggested we should all do a sort of virtual blog swap the response was positive and immediate by a lot of foodbloggers and hey… you know me.. I’m always in for something fun and new. The idea behind the blogswap is not to actually take over someone elses blog (thinking about that alone make me shiver..) but picking a recipe from a blog assigned to you and making a recipe from that blog. The fun thing about it is that you discover new blogs and possibly new recipes too.
I was assigned to the blog of Annemieke and because that was a very new blog I had to search a little bit for something I wanted to make. However, I quickly discovered that she had a recipe for tortilla’s on the site. Perfect as I had been planning on making these for such a long time, that it was ridiculous that I hadn’t done it yet. Even more ridiculous now that I actually made them and discovered that it is soooo easy to make and sooo delicous too! So thanks Annemieke for giving me the inspiration for these tortilla’s. Technically I used a different recipe because I really wanted the soft tortilla’s and not the crunchy ones, but if you’re looking for a bit of crunch have a look at Annemieke’s recipe here.
I found the recipe that I ended up using on Imagelicious, which turns out to be the blog of Julia Konovalova, a Canadian food photographer… Check it out, she has some gorgeous work on her site. isn’t it funny how you end up finding things on the internet sometimes? She participated in a homemade challenge for tortilla’s in 2009 which was run by Ben from What’s Cooking Mexico. And I had been searching Ben’s site for information on making flour tortilla’s… Such a long story for such a simple recipe! Lol..
Making these tortilla’s is a breeze and I am never gonna buy them in packages anymore. It is a lot cheaper to make yourself, not to mention a lot tastier and it literally takes about 15 minutes to make them. Maybe more if you have a lot.
